Overview:

Powell Elementary School works to serve children from grades PreK-4 in the Ward 4 neighborhoods of Washington, DC. Its mission is to instill in children from young ages perseverance and the pursuit of excellence for themselves, their families, and their community. In order to be an enriching and educational environment for its students, Powell must maintain a warm, organized atmosphere. It needs volunteers to upkeep areas of the school such as the gym and library in order to achieve its mission.

Indoor Projects include:

  • Painting the gym, faculty lounge, and bathroom stalls that have extensive graffiti damage
  • Painting murlas around the school, including the Powell Promise, its values, and college logos of which Powell teachers are alumni
  • Labeling rooms that are missing room number labeling
  • Helping the Powell librarian sort books and organize the library
